Occupational Therapist
Job Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify individual needs of residents, formulate, develop and implement appropriate occupational therapy programmes to facilitate, restore, improve residents’ function
- Evaluate the residents’ care plan and re-assess to establish a follow-up care plan
- Prescribe occupational therapy intervention to be implemented by the team
- Teach residents skills/ techniques and how to use adaptive equipment/ tools for participating in activities
- Initiate referral when positive signs and symptoms identified in the review of systems are beyond the specific skills of expertise or beyond the scope of occupational therapist
- Work with residents on a one-to-one basis, group or special setting based on their levels of function and severity of disability
- Evaluate and document residents’ therapy needs and progress
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as part of the trans-disciplinary team of professionals involved in the rehabilitative treatment process
- Provide therapy consultation, support and update on the residents’ progress and status to caregivers and all those involved in the team
- Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate adapted device as required by the residents to improve function
- Plan structured activities to meet resident’s well-being and train staff with Person Centre Care (PCC) approach
- Train caregivers with residents home-based programme and volunteers on safety measure when assisting residents
- Establish guidelines and procedures delineating the functions and responsibilities of the team
- Set standards of practice and performance criteria and ensure that objectives of service are achieved
- Keep abreast of the latest research and developments on occupational therapy
- Mentor subordinate with complex cases and conduct case discussion
- Attend and contribute regularly during staff meetings, case conference
- Create networking with hospitals and other ILTC sectors
- Perform administrative duties and administer events budgets
- Conduct internal audit on teams’ assessment/ review
- Coordinate with external volunteers and maintain good rapport
- Be active in planning and executing residents’ event
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
- Registered Occupational Therapist with Singapore Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)
- At least 3 years in healthcare or ILTC setting
